Synopsis: Through studying the world’s long and gruesome battle with Yellow Fever, we brought light to how historical context intertwines with the evolution of medical understanding, public health measures, and the spread of misinformation and disinformation; this enabled us to explore the socioeconomic effects of Yellow Fever and gain insight into how it impacted people’s welfare. We came to the conclusion that although there were hindrances to the quality of life due to disinformation and ineffective health measures throughout the course of this battle, the standard of living improved significantly by locating the source of Yellow Fever and developing a vaccine.
