POSS Team: Research Under Ladies Excels (RULE)
Team Captain: Sanya Sharma
Team Members: Stephanie Mei, Trinity Lee, Maren McChesney,  JiaYi Huang

Synopsis: As COVID-19 ravaged the world, the global economy was tested; and certain nations—especially the United States—tripped over themselves, stumbling towards the road to recovery. Countries went into lockdown, causing unemployment rates to skyrocket, decreasing trade, and incentivizing ideals of nationalism. This pandemic has highlighted many flaws in American government infrastructure like disregarding public health in favor of political and economic benefits. We evaluate the American economic, cultural, and political response and propose viable strategies, rationalizing the Green New Deal. We justify why the US should take grander steps towards an inclusive and sustainable future, encouraging economic growth and environmental responsibility.
