The Forces Driving Socio-Cultural Evolution: The Transformation of the Doctor-Patient Relationship in China Under the COVID-19 Pandemic

Synopsis: In China, there is a group of warriors. They wear protective clothing, masks and goggles. They are on the front lines, building walls to protect ordinary people in the war between humans and viruses. We, five high school students from China, are standing behind them and supporting them in our way. We conducted a survey about Chinese public’s attitudes towards healthcare workers under the COVID-19 pandemic and were glad to see that the doctor-patient relationship in China had improved because of the pandemic. In this report, by analyzing factors of this inspiring improvement from the aspect of public media in depth, we found that the change in report contents during the pandemic contributes to the mutual trust between medical workers and patients, therefore strengthening the doctor-patient relationship.
